At this time an effort is underway to have the property purchased by the White Mountain National Forest.  In this region the WMNF is the logical and preferred owner for this land.  As part of the WMNF the cliff, brook, road frontage, forest and raptor habitat would be public property in perpetuity and available for many forms of public use.
Shortly after the property was listed for sale several people became concerned about its future.  Real estate development is becoming an issue in the region and this is prime property for high end homes or a resort.
Almost immediately the Trust for Public Land  became  involved and is now the lead organization in the effort to have the property become part of the WMNF.
To support this effort a “grass roots” letter writing campaign was been organized via e mail and word of mouth.  So far this campaign has lobbied the Access Fund, a rock climber and conservation organization, to support the TPL effort. This has been successful with the AF sending a formal letter in support of the purchase to the Forest Service and providing seed money to the TPL to help fund their work related to this purchase.
After a year of “due diligence” work and interest by the Forest Service the property has been purchased by the Trust for Public Land.  This purchase effectively removes the property from the real estate market and preserves it for future addition to the WMNF.
